Nach dem Erfolg von The Outlaws (2017) kehrt Detektiv MA Seok-do (MA Dong-seok) in The Roundup zurück auf die Leinwand. Zusammen mit seinem Kollegen JEON Il-man (CHOI Gwi-hwa) soll er einen südkoreanischen Verdächtigen aus Vietnam zurück nach Südkorea überführen. Der anfänglich einfach erscheinende Auftrag nimmt jedoch eine Wende. Angekommen in Vietnam, erfahren die Detektive, dass der im Ausland lebende Südkoreaner KANG Hae-sang (SON Suk-ku) ein brutaler Mörder ist. Sie machen es sich zur Aufgabe, den Serienmörder zu stoppen.
The Roundup von LEE Sang-yong ist der bisher erfolgreichste und umsatzstärkste Film in Korea im Jahr 2022. Der Actionfilm zählte an seinem ersten Spieltag fast eine halbe Millionen Besucher*innen. Following the success of The Outlaws (2017), detective MA Seok-do (MA Dong-seok) returns to the big screen in The Roundup. Together with his colleague JEON Il-man (CHOI Gwi-hwa), he is supposed to transfer a South Korean suspect from Vietnam back to South Korea. The task, which initially seemed simple, takes a turn. In Vietnam, the detectives learn that the South Korean KANG Hae-sang (SON Suk-ku), who lives abroad, is a brutal killer. They make it their mission to stop the serial killer.
The Roundup by LEE Sang-yong is to date the most successful and highest-grossing film in Korea in 2022. The action film had almost half a million admissions on its first day. Viewers can look forward to another action-packed story starring detective MA Seok-do (MA Dong-seok). The third film in the series is already in production.
