5th Korean Film Festival Frankfurt
Unter dem Motto „Oh!“, was gleichzeitig der Aussprache der koreanischen „Fünf“ entspricht, fand vom 26.10. – 30.10.2016 das fünfte Mal das „Project K Korean Film Festival“ statt. Hierbei erwartete Besucher ein buntes Programm rund um den koreanischen Film und die Kultur des Landes. Das Programm fand, wie schon im Jahr zuvor, im Cinestar Metropolis statt.
Das Festival startete am Mittwochabend mit einer Sneak-Preview, für die der Eintritt kostenlos war. Die offizielle Eröffnung fand dann am Donnerstag mit dem Film „The World of Us“ statt. Eines der Highlights des diesjährigen Festivals folgte am Freitagabend. In Anwesenheit des Regisseurs Kim Sung-soo und des Schauspielers Jung Woo-sung konnte man den erfolgreichen Film „Asura: The City of Madness“ sehen. Nach gelungener Vorstellung standen der Regisseur und der Schauspieler noch für eine kleine Fragerunde zur Verfügung. Besonders letzterer sorgte für große Begeisterung bei den Zuschauern.
Von Donnerstag bis Sonntag konnte man sich dann am Tag bis zu fünf Filme unterschiedlichster Genres ansehen. Sowohl Drama, Thriller, Komödien, als auch Romance waren unter den Filmen vertreten. So gab es für jeden Besucher den passenden Film.
Action- und Krimifans kamen beispielsweise bei „A Violent Prosecutor“ voll und ganz auf ihre Kosten. Ein weiteres Must-See war außerdem die Fantasy-Romanze „The Beauty Inside“, welche die außergewöhnliche Geschichte eines Liebespaares zeigt.
Ein weiterer Film, der besonders viele Zuschauer anzog, war „Train to Busan“. Den in Korea extrem erfolgreichen Film konnte man sich Samstagabend ansehen.
Sonntagabend wurde dann der Film „Tunnel“ von Regisseur Kim Seong-hun gezeigt, der ebenfalls bei der Vorstellung anwesend war und viele Fragen im Anschluss daran ausführlich beantwortete. Das spannende Drama, in dem es um Leben oder Tod geht, kam bei den Zuschauern sehr gut an.
Wie jedes Jahr wurden neben dem Filmprogramm noch weitere Attraktionen angeboten. So konnten die Besucher beispielsweise einen Hanbok, die traditionelle koreanische Kleidung, anprobieren und sich vor einer Leinwand fotografieren lassen. Außerdem bestand die Möglichkeit, seinen eigenen Namen auf Koreanisch im Kalligrafie-Stil schreiben zu lassen, sowie Masken selbst zu bemalen, welche danach selbstverständlich als Andenken mit nach Hause genommen werden konnten. Dazu konnte man am Merchandise-Stand koreanische Fächer, Mäppchen, Anhänger und andere Kleinigkeiten erwerben. Und auch die hungrigen Gäste kamen nicht zu kurz. An der Bar konnte man sowohl koreanische Getränke als auch Snacks probieren.
Mittlerweile auch fester Bestandteil des Festivals ist der K-Pop Dance Contest in Zusammenarbeit mit „re[mark]able“, der auch 2016 wieder ein voller Erfolg war. Dieses Jahr fand der Contest an zwei Tagen statt, wobei der Samstag den Solotänzern und der Sonntag den Gruppentänzern gewidmet war.
Der Kinosaal platzte aus allen Nähten, als die Tänzer, die jedes Jahr auf’s Neue aus ganz Deutschland anreisen, ihr Können unter Beweis stellten.
2016 wurde eine neue Rekordzahl von schätzungsweise 4500 Besuchern gezählt.

Just like the motto ‘Oh!’ corresponds to the pronunciation of the Korean 5 the ‘Project K Korean film festival’ took place for the fifth time from 26.10.-30.10.2016. The visitors could expect a program all about the Korean movie and culture of the country. Like the year before the festival took place at Cinestar Metropolis.
The festival began on Wednesday evening with a free sneak-preview. The official beginning was on Thursday with the movie ‘The World of Us’. One of the highlights of this year’s festival followed on Friday evening. In attendance of the director Kim Sung-soo and the actor Jung Woo-sung the movie ‘Aura: the City of Madness’ was shown. After the showing the director and actor
were available for a small round of questions. Especially the latter one delighted the audience. Starting from Thursday and going until Sunday you could watch up to five movies of various genres. Drama, Thriller, Comedies and Romance were all represented. Action and thriller fans got their fill with ‘A Violent Prosecutor’. Another must see was the fantasy romance ‘The Beauty Inside’, which shows the extraordinary story of a pair of lovers. The movie ‘Train to Busan’ also attracted a big audience. On Sunday night the movie ‘Tunnel’ of the director Kim Seong-hun was shown, who also attended the showing and answered many questions afterwards.
Like every year there were other attractions besides the movie program. Visitors could try on Hanbok, traditional Korean attire, and let themselves be photographed in front of a screen. Additionally, they had the possibility to let their name be written in Korean calligraphy or to paint masks, which of course could be taken home as a souvenir. You could also buy trivialities at the merchandise stand. At the bar hungry guests could try some Korean snacks and drinks.
The k-pop dance contest in collaboration with ‘re[mark]able’ has become a fixed component by now. This year the contest took place on two days, Saturday being dedicated to the solo dancers and Sunday being dedicated to the group dancers.
