7th Korean Film Festival Frankfurt

Zuschauer der 7. Ausgabe von „Project K – The Korean Film Festival“ durften sich im Zeitraum vom 26. bis 28. Oktober 2018 über ein sorgfältig ausgewähltes Filmprogramm, begleitet durch zahlreiche Kulturangebote, im CineStar Metropolis in Frankfurt am Main freuen.
Über drei Tage verteilt konnten die Besucher neun verschiedene Filme in Kinoatmosphäre genießen: Als Eröffnungsfilm wurde YOON Jong-bins Film The Spy Gone North (공작, 2018) gezeigt, der beim Cannes Film Festival außer Konkurrenz lief und bei weiteren Filmfestivals mehrere Auszeichnungen für „Bester Film“, „Beste Regie“ und „Bester Schauspieler“ erhielt. Auch der Gewinnerfilm des FIPRESCI-Preis von Cannes Burning (버닝, 2018) wurde dem Publikum präsentiert. Darüber hinaus wurden HONG Chang-pyos Erstlingswerk The Princess And The Matchmaker (궁합, 2018), Dark Figure Of Crime (암수살인, 2018) von KIM Tae-gyun, das Regiedebüt Be With You (지금 만나러 갑니아, 2018) von LEE Jang-hoon und CHOO Chang-mins Seven Years Of Night (7 년의 밤, 2018) gezeigt. Ebenso wurde das koreanische Remake des Hongkong-Films Drug War (毒戰, 2012) von Johnnie To namens Believer (독적, 2018) von Regisseur LEE Hae-young gezeigt, in dem Schauspieler KIM Joo-hyuk in seiner letzten Rolle vor seinem tragischen Tod zu sehen war. YIM Soon-ryes Film Little Forest (리틀 포레스트, 2018), nach einem Manga von IGARASHI Daisuke, und der Debütfilm Microhabitat (소공녀, 2017) von Regisseurin JEON Go-woon rundeten das Festival durch ihren speziellen Fokus ab: Beide Filme unterlagen dem vom Project K Team gewählten Schwerpunkt „Die Rolle der Frau in Korea“. Sinn dieses Schwerpunktes war es, Regisseurinnen und Schauspielerinnen, aber auch Geschichten über Frauen in der koreanischen Gesellschaft besondere Aufmerksamkeit zu Teil kommen zu lassen.
Im kulturellen Rahmenprogramm des Festivals wurden in diesem Jahr wieder traditionelle koreanische Spiele wie Jegichagi, Gonggi und Ddakji vorgestellt, an denen sich die Besucher probieren konnten. Dazu gab es wieder die beliebte Hanbok-Anprobe und einen Merchandise-Stand. Auch mit dem traditionell hergestellten Hanji-Papier konnte wie die Jahre zuvor vieles gebastelt werden. Für Getränke und Snacks wurde an der Bar im Foyer des CineStar Metropolis gesorgt und auch wer Hunger hatte kam nicht zu kurz, vorausgesetzt der- oder diejenige konnte mit Schärfe gut umgehen: Mit der Fire Noodle Challenge wurden die interessierten Besucher in diesem Jahr nicht nur in ihrer Schnelligkeit auf die Probe gestellt, sondern auch in ihrer Schärfetoleranz. Hier wurden nämlich die beliebten, (sehr) scharfen koreanischen 불닭볶음면 (Instant-Nudeln) zum Wettessen angeboten.
Der allseits beliebte K-Pop Dance Contest wurde auch in diesem Jahr wieder mit einem Random Dance Game eröffnet. In den Kategorien „Solo“, „Duo“ und „Gruppe“ bewiesen die Teilnehmer ihr Können und konnten dabei auch verschiedene Preise gewinnen. Alle Tanzveranstaltungen und -events wurden wie immer für re[mark]able auf Kamera festgehalten und nach dem Festival auf dem re[mark]able YouTube-Kanal veröffentlicht Auch dieses Jahr wurde der K-Pop Dance Contest wieder von K-Pop-Stars präsentiert, diesmal von der Girlgroup Berry Good.

During the 7th “Project K- The Korean Film Festival,” which took place from the 26th until the 28th of October 2018 in the CineStar Metropolis in Frankfurt am Main, visitors enjoyed a well-selected film program and a wide range of cultural activities.
For three days guests looked forward to nine different movies in cinematic atmosphere: the opening movie was YOON Jong-bin’s movie The Spy Gone North ( 공작, 2018), which received numerous awards such as “Best Movie”, “Best Direction” and “Best Actor” during numerous film festivals. Also, the FIPRESCI award winner at Cannes Film Festival Burning (버닝, 2018) was shown. Moreover, HONG Chang-pyo’s debut film The Princess and the Matchmaker (궁합, 2018), Dark Figure of Crime (암수살인, 2018) by KIM Tae-gyun, Be With You ( 지금 만나러 갑니아, 2018) as LEE Jang-hoon’s directing debut and Seven Years of Night (7 년의 밤, 2018) by CHOO Chang-min were shown. Furthermore, the film festival showed the Korean remake of the original Hong Kong movie Drug War (毒戰, 2012) by Johnnie To. The remake Believer (독적, 2018) was directed by LEE Hae-young and features actor KIM Joo-hyuk in his last role before his tragic death. Finally, YIM Soon-rye’s movie Little Forest (리틀 포레스트, 2018), which is based on the manga by IGARASHI Daisuke, and JEON Go-woon’s film debut Microhabitat (소공녀, 2017) rounded off the festival. Both movies focused on the main theme that was selected by the team, namely “A Woman’s Role in Korea.” The intention behind this focus was to emphasize female directors and actresses as well as focus on women in Korean society.
Within this year’s cultural supporting program, visitors could engage in different Korean games such as Jegichagi, Gonggi and Ddakji. In addition, the festival offered once again the popular Hanbok fitting and a merchandise table. Visitors could also make lots of crafts with the traditionally produced Hanji paper. Snacks and drinks were provided by the CineStar Metropolis bar in the foyer. For those who also craved food, the festival provided the so-called “Fire Noodle Challenge”. For this game, festival visitors were not only challenged based on speed, but also their tolerance for spicy food since participants were dared to eat the very popular and extremely spicy noodles: 불닭볶음면 (Instant Noodles).
Once again, the widely popular K-Pop Dance Contest took place and started off with a random Dance Game. The participants proved their skills in the three different categories “solo”, “duo” and “group” and could even win prizes in doing so. All dance performances and events were again captured on camera by “re[mark]able” and later on published on their YouTube channel. This year’s K-Pop Dance Contest was presented by the Korean Girlgroup “Berry Good”.
