Der Stop-Motion Film Mother Land von Regisseur PARK Jae-beom folgt Krisha, einem jungen Nomadenmädchen, welches zusammen mit ihrer Familie in der Tundra lebt. Als ihre Mutter nach einem Unfall plötzlich erkrankt, reist ihr Vater in die Stadt, um Medizin zu kaufen. Doch Krisha vertraut auf die Worte einer Schamanin und macht sich auf den Weg ins nördliche Land, um mit dem Herr des Waldes, einem roten Bären, zu reden. Das junge Mädchen ist aber nicht die Einzige, die ihn aufsucht. Denn Hauptmann Vladimir will den roten Bären jagen und töten. Wird Krisha es schaffen, ihre Mutter zu retten?

Mother Land ist der erste koreanische Lang-Stop-Motion Film seit 45 Jahren und wurde während des Bucheon International Animation Film Festival 2022 für den Grand Prize in der Kategorie International Competition – Feature Film nominiert.

Director PARK Jea-beom’s stop-motion film Mother Land follows Krisha, a young nomadic girl who lives with her family in the tundra. When her mother suddenly falls ill after an accident, her father travels to the city to buy medicine. Krisha, however, trusts in the words of a shaman and sets off for the northern country to talk to the Master of the Forest, a red bear. The young girl, however, is not the only one who seeks him out. Captain Vladimir wants to hunt down and kill the red bear. Will Krisha manage to save her mother?

Mother Land is Korea’s first feature-length stop-motion animation in 45 years and was nominated for the Grand Prize during the 2022 Bucheon International Animation Film Festival in the category International Competition – Feature Film.
