Die berühmte Schauspielerin HWANG Yeo-rae (LEE Ha-nee) zieht sich nach schlechten Kritiken ihres neuesten Films auf eine Pazifikinsel zurück. Dort verliebt sie sich in den reichen und exzentrischen Unternehmer Jonathan Na (LEE Sun-Kyun) und die beiden heiraten. Doch was Anfangs wie ein Traum scheint, entpuppt sich schon bald als toxische Ehe, aus der Yeo-rae nicht ausbrechen kann. Gemeinsam mit ihrem jungen Nachbarn und Fan KIM Bum-woo (GONG Myoung), fasst sie deshalb den Entschluss, Jonathan umzubringen. Doch da die beiden alles andere als Profikiller sind, geht dabei so einiges schief.

Mit Killing Romance kehrt Regisseur LEE Won-suk nach dem Historienfilm The Royal Tailor zurück zum Comedy-Genre, in dem er zuvor bereits Erfolge feiern konnte. Dabei begeistert sein neuer Film neben vielen kreativen Einfällen vor allem auch durch Schauspielleistungen von LEE Ha-nee und Parasite-Star LEE Sun-kyun, die so grandios wie lustig sind.

After receiving bad reviews of her latest film, famous actress HWANG Yeo-rae (LEE Ha-Nee) retreats to a Pacific island. There, she falls in love with the rich and eccentric entrepreneur Jonathan Na (LEE Sun-kyun) and the two of them get married. But what seems like a dream at first soon turns out to be a toxic marriage that Yeo-rae can’t escape from. Together with her young neighbor and fan KIM Beom-woo (GONG Myoung), she decides to kill Jonathan. But since the two are anything but professionals, things go wrong quickly.

After the historical film The Royal Tailor, Killing Romance marks director LEE Won-suk’s return to the comedy genre, in which he has already enjoyed success. His new film amazes not only with its many creative ideas, but also with the terrific and hilarious acting of LEE Ha-nee and Parasite star LEE Sun-kyun.
