Director KIM Ji-wan (LEE Jung-eun) is in a crisis: none of her films have been particularly successful, and her newest feature is a box-office flop as well. As she questions whether or not she can afford to keep making movies, she receives the offer to work on restoring the film A Woman Judge by director HONG Eun-won, one of the first female directors in the film history of South Korea. During the restoration process it soon becomes obvious that parts of the film are missing. While searching for these parts, Ji-wan learns more about Eun-won’s life, as well as the history of female labor in the South Korean film industry.
SHIN Su-won worked as a teacher before beginning her career as a director at 42 years old. Her film Madonna (2015) was part of the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. Hommage is her sixth feature film.
